I've contemplated switching to the window mount, but honestly, the vent mount suffices to stay out of my field of view and within reach if I need to adjust GPS without pulling the phone off the window. The cushions on the feet and arms are starting to show signs of continued compression, but I'm not particularly concerned yet. They are already, after only 3 months, beginning to tear and crack. The other major complaint I have is about the adhesive mounting pad for my dash. In addition, once mounted, however temporarily, neither provides a sufficiently stable platform for an iPod or an iPhone (I tried with both). This item is made of very cheap plastic and broke within the first 6 weeks. I'm sure moving it around a few inches to find the sweet spot isn't that big of a deal. On the bright side, the mount stays upright and is cooled by the air conditioner.

It holds the phone nice and tight and the clips fit perfectly in my RAV4 vents. For me, this was a great purchase.

It is substantial enough for my EVO 4G smartphone. Puts the phone accessible to easily take calls with a touch when driving (I don't do outgoing). It's a great idea, but poor quality materials or design. Since I already have a GPS mounted on my windshield, I was excited to be able to use the vent mount for my HTC Incredible. I attach mine to the windshield and it holds great. On my wife's car, it is attached to the air vent and holds very well unless bumped from the side. The articulating arms are thick and sturdy. This holder does not bounce or vibrate when driving.

I am not sure if mine was just defective, but unfortunately, the product can only be returned within the first 30 days, so I will not have a chance to try out another one. I would not waste your money on this product. It was a little bulky. I did not try the sticky dash mount, or the seemingly flimsy vent mount. I got this one and the Motorola brand dash mount. The Motorola mount is nice that it puts the phone in to car mode automatically when you put the phone on it. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the vent clip mount (which I was using while waiting for the suction cup) is not that great. It connects, but it's very wobbly.

First generation Droid is a different size than my X, so beware. However with this product you don't have to worry about sizes since it is adjustable and well cushioned.

If you care about the electronics you place in this mount, don't turn the heat on when using the vent mount. The holding piece works perfectly.
