I guess for $15, I'm getting what I paid for. I'll keep looking for a better option. The vent clips were a little stiff, but I'd rather have that than it be too loose. I'm sure it will loosen with age. You can use either but not both. I echo the comments of many others here that the suction cup is powerful and very solid. I presently use it for my Verizon iPhone 4. Delivery was a little weird, since it was supposed to ship with Lasership and arrive on the 9th of March, but the 9th came and nothing arrived.
I needed a mount to replace the proprietary mount for my GPS, so I could mount my dinc2, and it works. Haven't tried the vent clips, but the window mount sticks well and hasn't fallen off.
It allows my phone to be plugged in while in the holder. It does allow the phone to vibrate a little when driving but not enough to cause problems. I first tried the vent mount. It seems easy to install it on the vent. A quick and easy solution was to add a small piece of rubber tubing to each plastic clip. The vent mount is now rock solid, like the windshield mount. Just holds like it should, like a tree branch. I don't use the air vent attachment because those are just silly ways to break your vents, but the suction cup setup is the way to go and it works fantastic!
You will not be disappointed. I have a 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 and this product works perfectly. The prongs are in the way if you want to charge your phone while in the mount. You can reposition the phone in the holder for it to fit, however, or flip the phone...it would be nice if they made the prongs removable or adjustable. After a third and fourth attempt with both the individual and customer service, I just wrote the loss off. It looks good, but trust me - the quality is terrible. My disappointment with this product is that it only worked for me with the windscreen mount. The air vent mount, which is what I wanted to use, was much too flimsy and the weight of the phone (Galaxy S2) moves the product back and forth every time you turn the car (and I'm no speed demon!) On the windscreen it works well.
The suction cup is definitely the way to go. This review covers primarily the vent attachment, as that is all I have used.
It loosens on its own over time or any bumps in the road. And the foam cushion that the phone sits on is already wearing away.
